Phillips & Temro to Demonstrate Anti-Idling & Cold Weather products for Diesel Trucks at American Trucking Association’s TMC Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition

February 11 16:02 2015

As trucking industry professionals head to Nashville for American Trucking Association’s Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition (ATA TMC), they are invited to visit Phillips & Tempo in booth #1213. PTI will have products and technologies designed to take the chill off diesel trucks.

Minneapolis, MN / Nashville, TN – Phillips and Temro Industries (PTI), a global OEM and aftermarket provider of custom engineered thermal systems, and solutions for trucking.  PTI announced it will demonstrate how to take the chill off diesel trucks with its winterization products and engine idling reduction products at the (ATA’s) TMC Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition (ATA TMC).

TMC’s annual meeting will take place February 16 – 19 at the Music City Center in Nashville, TN. With more than 37,000 members representing the interests of the trucking industry, ATA TMC is North America’s premier technical conference for trucking.

From booth #1213, PTI will exhibit its family of brands. Company representatives Greg Bremhorst, Brent Hamil, Robert Jordan and Ian Vriese will be on hand to discuss the following technologies:

  • Engine heating products: Zerostart’s immersion heating systems, oil pan heaters, battery warmers, and silicone pad heaters
  • Fuel and fluid heating products: Arctic Fox in-tank heaters, Hot Fox in- tank warmers, and Hot Line in-line fuel heaters
  • It’s newest suite of idle reduction technologies: Idle Free Systems auxiliary power units

“Without proper equipment, winter can have a negative impact on up-time and maintenance costs,” said Ian Vriese, Director of Sales, Phillips and Temro, Inc. “Our heating solutions keep trucks running and drivers comfortable while reducing fuel consumption and environmental impact.”

PTI has been manufacturing engine block heaters under its Zerostart and Temro brands for 95 years. The company has expanded it’s offering to include fuel and fluid heating products that prevent fuel gelling, reduce the use of fuel additives, decrease the number of filter replacements and reduce idle time. PTI’s Arctic Fox brand produces several solutions to warm fuel such as the Hot Fox in-tank fuel heaters, In-Line fuel heaters and Hot Line electrically heated fuel lines.

In addition to engine and fuel heating solutions, PTI offers cabin and battery warming products. Battery performance is tested in the company’s cold room, which can accommodate a class 8 truck and can operate at -40°F. PTI testing indicates that at 0°F, a battery has only has 40% of its power available to start the vehicle. Warming the battery with a silicone pad heater creating heat rise, which prolongs the life of the battery and provides cold cranking amps to get trucks started.

PTI’s most recent brand, Idle Free Systems, manufactures the Idle Free Electric Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), the most complete idle elimination system on the market today.  The only electric APU capable of meeting drivers’ needs without relying on the truck’s starting batteries. Unique to the Idle Free Electric APUs is its ability to be powered three ways:

  1. An independent battery bank consisting of four AGM batteries
  2. Shorepower, which is standard on every Idle Free system, allows drivers unlimited runtime
  3. Reefer Link™, Idle Free’s proprietary, patented technology powered by the reefer. Idle Free is the only APU on the market that can be powered by the reefer.  When connected, drivers will have unlimited runtime for the system.

The Idle Free APUs use a coolant heater as a fully integrated component of the system providing heat for both the cab / bunk as well as pre-heating the engine block.

PTI invites media, distributors and fleet managers to stop by ATA TMC booth #1213 for more information.
