SHIMANO BIKE NYC, URBAN CONCEPT POP-UP STORE, HOSTS SUMMER WORKSHOP SERIES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC WITH TOPICS ON HEALTHY LIFESTYLE, SPORTS & FASHION AND MORE

July 10 22:57 2017

NEW YORK – July 10, 2017 – SHIMANO BIKE NYC, the first urban concept pop-up store hosted by Shimano Inc. – the leading manufacturer of innovative bicycle component systems – will host a series of free workshops this month, with topics ranging from Healthy Lifestyle to Sports & Fashion, to the process of creating a bicycle. All workshops are open to the general public at no cost, and reservations may be made at http://shimanobike.nyc.

“We’ve seen overwhelmingly positive response since opening the doors to SHIMANO BIKE NYC at the end of June, and we want to add more intriguing opportunities for visitors to come to the store and get hands-on with Shimano and learn more about all the aspects of cycling that make it so great,” said Naomi Oshiro, project director of SHIMANO BIKE NYC. “We hope these workshops will be just as well received, providing local cyclists and those interested in cycling an opportunity to meet the expert speakers and learn more about these aspects of urban cycling.”

Throughout the summer workshop series, SHIMANO BIKE NYC will host high-profile influential speakers to discuss various topics in the realm of cycling, including:

  1. Meet Celebrity Chef and Avid Cyclist Seamus Mullen

Who: A graduate of the University of Oregon, Reed participated in one of the first Wieden + Kennedy internship programs, creating advertising and marketing work for Nike and others. Inspired by the advertising being created by Marc Jacobs and Jurgen Teller, Reed moved to NYC and went to work for Robert Duffy, Marc Jacobs’ co-founder and business partner. Over nearly 12 years at Marc Jacobs, Reed developed numerous new departments and internal teams for the brand. As the Director of Visual Merchandising, Reed opened 26 domestic and international retail locations. From 2010 through 2104, Reed served as Design Director for Special Projects and Collaborations where he led concept and product design and collaborated with a diverse range of artists and brands for international retail and online projects. In 2016, Reed opened the healthy lifestyle brand REED&CO in Pittsburgh, PA. Reed is a lifelong lover of bicycles who landed his first job with a local bicycle shop at 12 years old. Following a brief and unsuccessful youth racing career on road and mountain bikes, Reed became a lifelong commuter, successfully avoiding a car for 40 years. These days, bicycle life consists of morning spins on his vintage (Made in PA) Cannonade through the Lawrenceville neighborhood where the REED&CO storefront is located.
